| I went to the 1998-1999
class graduation to see my second youngest cousin receive his diploma.
For those of you who graduated in 1979, you may be interested to know that
Mr. John Dahlem is now the principal at Loara (after a stint at Katella).
He is looking well, a little less hair. Mr. Stan Douglas has retired
this year. I am sorry to say that Mr. Tom Dorosky has passed away
this year before he could receive his Loara Certificated Employee of the
Year award. His wife received it for him. When the graduating
class sang our alma mater at the end, there were actual shivers running
up and down my spine.
Going through my
cousin's yearbook, I noticed that some of our teachers are
still there.
Mr. Larry Klevos (now married!), I hear, will be retiring soon. Mr. Bill
Leader, Mr. Dave Hurlburt, Mr. John deFries and Mrs. Diane Miller are still
teaching. From Trident, Mr. John Tillis and Mrs. Ruth Wilkoff have
been teaching at Loara. Lyle Higger is also a faculty member at Loara!
You, too, can see
these teachers, and in color, if you go to the Anaheim Union High School
District's web site and click on Loara <http://www.auhsd.k12.ca.us:80/schooldistrict/school/high/Loara/index.html>.
There may be teachers
I didn't recognize or remember, but you might.
Loara has changed.
When I asked my cousins about the "Valkyries" and the
"Courtiers," she
said, "Who?" Apparently they are now only the dance team
and the color guard.
Speaking of band-related things. Does anyone know what happened to
the Loara Marching 1000?
You all should come
back and visit the school and your old teachers. The streets are
mostly paved now. Disneyland has gotten bigger. The freeway
on and off ramps
are a little tricky right now, but manageable.
