I can tell you that it was the fall of 1969 (probably early November), 
just after Loara beat Magnolia for the Irvine League Championship (17-0). 
The incident referred to in the column was when a bunch of Magnolia 
students jumped some Loara students over by the Jack-In-the-Box next to 
La Palma Stadium. I think Jeff Delphs and Mendez might have been 
involved. This was a preamble to me getting hit from behind and knocked 
out by Mike Quarry after the Loara-Magnolia basketball game a few months 
later.
